Digital Instant Read Thermometers
Some of our thermometers have a function that allows you to re-calibrate the thermometer by allowing you to adjust the temperature while the thermometer is reading a "known" temperature (such as in an ice bath, or in boiling water)
To find out if your thermometer has this function, please consult your User Manual for your unit, or, you can find the manual for your unit in our User Manuals section.
Wireless & Extended Range Thermometers
If your device uses probes to detect temperature, inaccurate readings can be a sign that the probe is going to fail soon, and you may want to order a replacement.
100°+ Inaccuracy: It is likely that your probe has already shorted out and may begin displaying a letter code soon (such as LLL or HHH). You will need to replace the probe for your unit.
10-20° Inaccuracy: This is usually a result of moisture seeping into the probe and throwing off the temperature detected by the device within that reads temperature. This can sometimes be fixed by baking the probe in an oven at 250°F (120°C) for 10-15 minutes, as this will evaporate out moisture that may be trapped in the probe. Make sure you are only putting the probe+wire in the oven, not the jack or transmitter.
If you think you need to replace your probe, but are not sure which one to order, check our article on this topic: What probe do I need to order? (All Probes List)
