Dashes may display on your unit instead of a temperature if the units are not connected properly.
If you're seeing this code on your transmitter, make sure that your probes are fully inserted into the unit. Press firmly and apply a slight twist to make sure the probe connection is flush with the unit.
If you're seeing this code on your receiver, it means it is not receiving the signal from your transmitter. Follow your device's instructions for syncing the units. See some common examples below:
- Press and hold the TX button on the back of your Transmitter for two seconds. Some units will have a red LED on the front of the unit which will flash when the signal is transmitted.
- Press and hold the refresh button on the back of the Transmitter unit for two seconds. (on many units, such as the ET-732/733, this is also the °F/°C button on that back of the transmitter, next to the power button)
For units without Insta-Sync technology, it is important to turn on the units in the correct order. Turn on the Receiver unit first (this is the "remote" that you carry with you). Next, turn the Transmitter unit on within 60 seconds of powering on the receiver (this is the unit you connect the probes to). The units will take 12-30 seconds to connect.
If you are still having trouble connecting the units, you may want to install new batteries in both the transmitter and receiver. Low power is the most common cause of connection issues like this and replacing the batteries will usually get the units working normally again.
